A Tribute to Fire Debris Remediators and Their Super-Sized Dump Trucks

When Jane Brackman returned to her Altadena home last February, her creative attention turned to the colorful, heavy-duty dump trucks deployed by the Army Corp of Engineers to assist with clean up after the Eaton Fire of January 7, 2025. Dawn to dusk, seven days a week, February through June, truck drivers made about 1,500 trips each day to remove more than 2.5 million tons of fire debris. Thanks to the diligent efforts of workers, the massive clean-up operation proceeded at twice the speed of prior wildfire recoveries.

The pastel-colored, super-sized trucks and generous spirit of those who drove them inspired Jane’s ink and watercolor paintings featured here.

Jane has very generously agreed to allow for full size downloads for those who would like to print these images. Full size downloads of the images are available by clicking on the specific image. A full size picture of the "Altadena Ace" can be seen displayed at the Pasadena Village office.
