“I DIDN’T KNOW THAT!” A Refresher Course
By Judith RayPosted: 03/26/2026
Pasadena Village does a great job keeping us all informed. However, as the old saying goes, you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink. Pasadena Village puts it out there, but YOU have to go get it.
What I mean is this: so many people have said to me, “I didn’t know that” or “I didn’t get that.” An equal number of people have said, “Oh, I never look at my email.” And there, my friends, is the crux of the problem. The communications we receive from the Village come via email. Now, if you attended the new member orientation, you probably know this. Or you may have forgotten this, so here is a quick and easy way to know what’s going on.
Monthly
The Monthly Calendar
Around the end of the current month you will receive an email that has the monthly calendar for the next month. If you see an event that sounds interesting, you can click on that event which will take you to an explanation of it. If that event requires registration, click on the box that says register here. You will get an acknowledgement that you have registered.
The Voice of the Village
The second monthly communication is the Voice of the Village, a newsletter written by and about the Villagers. In general, this publication recounts events that have already happened and also includes an inspirational message from the President of the Village.
Weekly
Your Week at the Village
On Monday of every week you will receive a publication titled “Your Week at the Village.” This is a microcosm of the Monthly Calendar and operates the same way except it’s just a week out of time. Again you can click on the event and, if interested and required, click on the register button.
Friday Bulletin
The Friday Bulletin comes on Friday (Who knew?) and introduces new members. It also includes requests or bits of information from other Villagers. For example, someone may ask for a recommendation for a dentist. Or someone may request contact information for a dog walker. You can simply let Hannah Rough-Shock at the Village Office know your request; she will see that it gets in the Bulletin.
So when you’re new – or perhaps you are just not all that into checking email – these publications are where you find out about everything that’s going on at the Village. If you have 2500 messages in your inbox and the thought of sifting through all of them for a message from the Village is too daunting, use the search bar above your emails and type in Pasadena Village and you can see what has come in recently.
MOST IMPORTANTLY! Make sure your email address is correct in the Membership Directory.
