Getting to know Sam Gopinathan
By Michelle ChiuPosted: 12/18/2025
We are thrilled to introduce one of our newer Board members, Sam Gopinathan, whose vision and dedication align perfectly with our mission to support independent living for seniors in Pasadena.
Sam is a dedicated entrepreneur and community leader. He serves as the Founder and CEO of New Wave Home Care, a premier in-home care provider specializing in personalized caregiving services for seniors and individuals with disabilities across Southern California. Under his leadership since founding the company in 2015, New Wave Home Care has grown into a trusted name, emphasizing compassionate, high-quality care that allows clients to maintain independence and dignity in their own homes. The company holds multiple awards, including recognition from Home Care Pulse for client satisfaction and caregiver excellence.
Sam's background reflects his passion for caregiving. Sam is a Mechanical Engineer from India; he came to the U.S. to pursue his higher education as an MBA candidate at the esteemed Peter Drucker School of Management at Claremont Graduate University. After he lost his job in the 2009 recession, he built his career in healthcare and business, drawing from personal experience with family members needing care. He holds an MBA degree and has over 12 years of experience with Fortune 500 companies.
In addition to his professional achievements, Sam is deeply committed to community service. He is an active member of the Board of Directors for Pasadena Village. His involvement with Pasadena Village stems from his belief that community collaboration is key to aging gracefully. Sam also serves on the board of MAPS Charities (Making A Positive Statement), a nonprofit focused on supporting underserved communities through education, health initiatives, and youth programs in Southern California.
Beyond business, Sam is a family man who enjoys hiking, gardening and mentoring young entrepreneurs. His energy and optimism make him a joy to work with, and we're grateful for his service.
Please join us in welcoming Sam; reach out to him at our next event or via the Village office.
The Pasadena Board of Directors meets every 3rd Tuesday of the month at 4:00 PM. The meeting is open for Villagers and guests to attend, so if you are interested in knowing more about how the Board operates and what we do, you are welcome to attend any upcoming Board meetings. Please feel free to send questions you would like answered in the newsletter to me or to Voice of the Village Editor Bridget Brewster.
