2025 Annual Meeting: A Year of Resilience
By Katie BrandonPosted: 08/04/2025
On Tuesday, June 24, over 80 gathered at Boston Court Pasadena for the 2025 Annual Meeting. Board President Dick Myers opened the program and introduced the theme of resilience. Marcia Miller shared about her experience being a newer Villager, the impact of the Eaton Fire, the smoke damage to her home, and the support she received from fellow Villagers.
Vice President Wayne April shared about Pasadena Village’s swift response to the fire, the peer-to-peer support that continues to this day along with gift card distribution, technology purchases, and other supplies provided. The Care Team, which Wayne is part of, offers individual support and resource connections, especially ongoing mental health support through community partnerships.
A report on the financial status of the Village was given by Treasurer Doug Colliflower, a review of the year by Executive Director Katie Brandon, and gratitude was expressed to the 2024/25 Board of Directors and an introduction of the 2025/26 Board of Directors Slate by Chair of the Governance Committee, Jo Yeargin. Claire Gorfinkel termed off the board in June 2025, and Barbara Madden remained on the board, but no longer as an officer.

Guest speaker Carolyn Ross, MSW, gave us an overview of the growth of villages throughout the state of California. Carolyn is Co-Executive Director of Village Movement California.
As we close the year, we extend our gratitude to the all Villagers, volunteers, and staff - Hannah, Nathan, Pablo, Samantha, and Laci, along with past intern Tino - for their contributions this year. Thank you to our donors, Business Partners, and funding partners for your generous contributions and partnership. Finally, thank you to the leaders of the Village, especially our Board of Directors who hosted the Annual Meeting reception, and who contribute in large and small ways that do not go without notice. Thank you!
