The Pasadena Village Board of Directors is thrilled to welcome one of our new members, Lorrie Gray. Lorrie has a wealth of experience and is ready to roll up her sleeves and get to work.

What initially drew Lorrie to the Village was our unique concept of supporting independent living through mutual support and enrichment as we age. "I am excited by the Village's mission," she shares, "and I believe that by serving on the Board, I will be able to help the Village fulfill this mission effectively."

Lorrie's personal values align seamlessly with our organization's core principles. Throughout her entire career in healthcare, she has focused on addressing individual needs to empower people to better manage their own health. She sees a natural connection between this work and empowering Villagers to maintain their independent living. "It's really the same concept," she explains, "just applied in a different context."

As a registered dietitian, Lorrie brings valuable expertise in evidence-based analysis to our Board. Her professional background has trained her to examine the factual basis for any plan rather than implementing solutions based purely on tradition or intuition. This methodical approach will serve the Village well as we continue to grow and evolve our programs.

Lorrie has clear goals for her Board service, centered on ensuring the Village can effectively fulfill its mission. She understands that the Board plays a crucial role in protecting our organization's mission and donor intent by maintaining fiscal health, legal and ethical integrity, and providing strategic planning. She emphasizes the importance of honoring donor intent when contributed funds are used by the Village.

When asked what might be some potential blind spots that she sees, Lorrie believes that it is vital for members to have opportunities to share their views on the Village's direction and programs. She believes that the Board currently lacks readily available methods for gauging Villagers’ sentiments, which could create a perception that the Board is unaccountable to Villagers. This insight demonstrates her commitment to transparent and responsive governance.

When she's not focused on healthcare or community service, Lorrie enjoys gardening and landscaping. In fact, she has single-handedly re-landscaped her entire property, except for three pre-existing trees. This hands-on approach and attention to detail reflect the same dedication she brings to all her endeavors.
