VILLAGE CONNECTIONS AT WASHINGTON PARK

Pasadena Village is presenting wonderful opportunities for community members to connect, learn, have fun and socialize in the new Washington Park Community Center.

In the past few months a variety of programs have been offered:  Poetry gatherings; Halloween mask-making; Halloween party; presentation on osteoporosis, Medicare, estate planning and more.  All of these Village Connections events include light refreshments and time for participants to mix and mingle. It’s a great time to meet members of the community and get to know Pasadena Villagers.

In December over a dozen gathered for Cookies and Carols. It was a relaxed old-fashioned Christmas carol sing-along with Villager Bruce Christensen playing the guitar and everyone singing along with printed lyrics.  

We also used various percussion instruments to shake, rattle or roll.  Whatever we may have lacked in musical talent we sure made up for in enthusiasm!  

We were treated to fresh coffee, cold drinks and an enormous assortment of cookies, homemade and fancy bakery-bought. When the singing was over we pitched in to help Suzi Hoge pack boxes of cookie assortments to be delivered to older adults who might not be participating in many activities, or who might enjoy a visit and sweet treat. 

Our partnership with the City of Pasadena and our support from Johnny Mack, the park’s manager, we look forward to more events in the new year.  In January the Village Schmoozendoodle group will offer, “Peace Out with Schmoozendoodle.” A 60s theme with tie-dye and peace symbols will be accompanied with 60s music. In addition, we will have the opportunity to add to the City of Pasadena’s Annual “Peace Chain,” an event initiated by a Villager Karen Bagnard.
