Discussion of Current News
By Blog MasterPosted: 09/06/2022
Notes by Sharon Jarrett
The participants focused their discussion on a number of issues that were in the news. Included were:
- the release of documents following the search warrant issued for the former president's residence
- the use of language in both the television and print media
- the misuse of language and the vocabulary selection designed to anger
A considerable amount of time was given to a discussion of third party candidates - the past history of third party candidates and the dangers presented by third party candidates.
The work of the group Braver Angels was discussed. The group provides spaces for community members of differing political view points to discuss their views in respectful environments.
The next meeting will be September 16, 2022 at 12:00 PM PST. Brian Biery will continue with his presentation of the racial history of Pasadena. This presentation follows and expands upon his prior review of the recent history of Pasadena.
