FAREWELL TO OUR INTERNS

Best wishes to Pasadena Village's dedicated and caring social work interns, Chloe Camarena and Stephanie Rivas! Stephanie and Chloe connected with older adults throughout our community since their internship began in August 2021.

Stephanie Rivas has a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Mount Saint Mary’s University and is working on her master’s degree in Social Work from USC. In Fall 2021, Stephanie launched the Wonder Years program at Pasadena Village, providing an opportunity for older adults to reflect and assess their needs as they age. Stephanie coordinated with Village leaders to help new members explore the variety and richness of opportunities provided by the Pasadena Village. She applied the feedback from the first cohort to adjust the program for its second iteration in Spring 2022, and created a framework so it would live on after the conclusion of her internship.

Chloe Camarena received a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from San Jose State University and is working on her master’s degree in Social Work at Azusa Pacific University (APU). Chloe regularly reached out to older adults who might be isolated and have varying abilities to utilize technology. She researched resources for older adults in our community to help further connect members to the abundance of support that is available. She worked with Stephanie to launch a new Women’s Support Group, helping older adults establish the structure they need for their group to be self-sustaining. The women in the group now meet regularly and rely on each other to navigate aging together.

We are so grateful to Chloe and Stephanie for all they have done to enrich Pasadena Village and our community. We wish them both the very best in their education and career journeys - with their positivity, compassion, intelligence, and perseverance, they will change the world!
