Family Beginnings and Who We Are Now

Gentlemen of the Village!  Welcome to Spring, Clocks forward, and St. Patrick’s Day!

Most all of the things we've discussed have asked the question, “Who are you?”

We’ve looked at nature, nurture, personal experience, the impact of choices we’ve made, the effects of relationships we’ve enjoyed, the period of history we’ve lived in!

Today I ask you to take a deep look at the nature and impact of your family history. It seems to be an accepted fact that our ancestry including the country we claim as our origin, the history of our parents and generations of grandparents have a decided influence on who we are, our expectations, as well what we name as our legacy, the record of our time on earth, what we have done with our gifts, how we multiplied the human inheritance we were given.

My parents were immigrants from Ireland, so I feel close to the history of their families and travels, but even if someone is two or four generations removed from their place of origin there remains ties that cannot be denied, plans that were laid in place, expectations of historical outcomes that those ancestors had. Let’s look at that history and how we fit into the picture of what they saw ahead.

Take aim with your monocular at your family beginnings, and tell us something of what you see.  Share with us some of the pride you feel about what you have contributed to the record of your family name and history.
