On Tuesday, August 28 at 1 pm we offer our 2nd in person Civil Rights Movement event, 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, at Pasadena Village office. We will watch the award winning documentary "The March" US National Archives. Following the film a group discussion will be led by Jim Hendrick. 

The March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, held on August 28, 1963, in Washington, D.C., aimed to advocate for African American civil and economic rights. Highlighted by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s iconic "I Have a Dream" speech at the Lincoln Memorial, the event called for an end to racism and segregation. The march significantly influenced the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and preceded the Freedom Summer Voter Registration in Mississippi leading to the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
