We’re doing a four-mile urban hike in the Mt. Washington neighborhood this Friday. I hope the weather will be sunny and clear because the views are wonderful and absolutely worth the climb! We’ll start from the northeast side of the neighborhood, walk up to and across the spine and head down on the southwest side.
This hike’s difficulty level is moderately challenging at the beginning, with stairs and a steep 950 foot walk up Glenalbyn Drive. After that, there is intermittent uphill spaced between plenty of level walking for recovery. The last mile or so is downhill.
Walking surfaces are a combination of pavement, unpaved fire road and walking paths. Some of the paths are rocky and potholed.
This is a Metrorail trip. We’ll start the hike at 7:30AM at the Southwest Museum Station and end at the Heritage Square Station. I’ll distribute train departure times as we get closer to the walk. You can depart from the station that’s most convenient for you and we’ll either meet up in the first car of the train or at the Southwest Museum Station.
Please bring plenty of water and a hat. After the hike, there’s the option to hop off the train in South Pasadena for coffee and breakfast at Heirloom Bakery.
