This Friday's hike is an easy 4-miler with a nice amount of shade. We start in Hahamonga Watershed Park and loop around the east side of La Canada Flintridge. The hike has a bit of everything - walking trails, streets/sidewalks and a creek crossing.
We'll meet at 7:30AM, just inside the Park entrance at the intersection of Foothill Blvd and Oak Grove Drive on the border of Pasadena and La Canada Flintridge. Drive into the Park and park in one of the unpaved spaces on the east side of the road. If you are coming from the 210 Freeway, it's best to avoid Berkshire Ave because of school traffic. Instead, exit on Foothill Blvd and head east into the Park.
Towards the end of the walk we will cross Berkshire Creek. There is no bridge, however the water level is low at this time of the year. Last week I was able to cross without getting my feet wet. To be safe, please wear shoes that you don't mind getting wet and bring your hiking poles for balance.
At the start of the hike, the walk on Gould Canyon Trail is uphill, with a gradual incline. The rest of the hike is mostly flat.
Please reach out to Jane Hufnagel with any questions.
