Hailed as the most viewed opera production in recorded history, this eagerly anticipated revival transports you into an enchanted fantasy world in Mozart's dazzling celebration of true love conquering all. Tenor Miles Mykkanen is Prince Tamino, determined to rescue his lady love, the Princess Pamina, only to find that things aren't what they seem. Soprano Aigul Khismatullina is the Queen of the Night who sent him on his quest, baritone Kyle Miller is the bird-catcher Papageno, and bass Kwangchul Youn is Sarastro, leading the audience through the mysterious action on the stage.
Groundbreaking stage director Barrie Kosky revives his visually arresting production, replete with dazzling interactive animations inspired by 1920s silent cinema. With singers interacting in real time with projections all around them and a score filled with catchy melodies, The Magic Flute portrays a whimsical journey with all its feats and foibles. James Conlon ends his legendary tenure as LA Opera Music Director conducting this tribute to one of the most beloved masterpieces in operatic history.
This June 17 performance also marks LA Opera's annual Pride Night in partnership with the Opera League of Los Angeles.
Running time: approximately two hours and forty minutes, including one intermission.
Sung in German with English subtitles.
