According to the FBI's 2025 IC3 Report, Americans age 60 and older lost $7.7 billion to fraud last year; a 59% jump from 2024. The threat is accelerating: AI-enabled fraud surged 1,210% in 2025 alone, and the SEC warned in March 2025 that AI is "rapidly diminishing the skill barrier for fraud," allowing bad actors to run sophisticated scams with minimal technical expertise. However, we know that short educational interventions and forewarning can have a meaningful impact in reducing susceptibility to fraud.
We are previewing our new SAFE (Seniors Against Fraud and Exploitation) educational module before its public debut at our upcoming Pasadena Celebrates Older Americans Month resource fair, where it will be featured as a "Become an Expert" session. We want Villager input before we roll it out: Does the content land? Is anything missing? Your feedback will shape the final version.
You will also get a walkthrough on how to present the material confidently as part of the Outreach Team, especially at our aforementioned senior resource fair on Wednesday 5/20!
