The Hilbert Museum of California Art is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the artistic history of
California. Affiliated with Chapman University, the museum is in Old Towne Orange.

The museum consists of two buildings and 26 galleries. It has the distinction of being the only museum
in the world committed to tracing the history of California from the 1900s to the present through works
by leading California Scene artists and Hollywood studio artists and animators.
  • California Scene Paintings: The museum’s collection includes oils, watercolors, sketches, and
lithographs that capture urban and rural scenes, coastal views, and everyday life in California.
Notable artists featured include Millard Sheets, Emil Kosa Jr., and Mary Blair.
  • Animation and Production Art: The museum also houses a large collection of Disney art and
works by 20 th -century illustrators, reflecting the intersection of California art and the
    entertainment industry.
  • Current Exhibitions: The museum regularly updates its exhibitions, showcasing both permanent
and temporary displays that highlight various aspects of California’s artistic heritage.

We will carpool and use the Village van to get to the Hilbert, arriving in Orange at 9:00AM for breakfast
at the Streamliner Café, across from the museum. Our reservation to view the collection is at 10:00AM.
It will take us between 1 to 1 ½ hours to walk the galleries and we should be back in Pasadena by
12:30PM. Admission to the museum is free.

Carpool will be arranged. Riders, please contribute $5 toward car expenses to your driver.

If you have any questions please contact the event organizer, Kim Santell.
