This energetic group of Village Hikers meets on the second Friday of each month. Hikes are generally four to five miles in length (sometimes longer) and include trail hiking as well as urban hikes.
Did you know there’s a small mountain in the middle of Glendora? This Friday we will explore the trails of South Hills Wilderness Area, located just north of the 210 Freeway and south of Foothill Blvd. The hike is between 4.5 to 5.0 miles in length and portions are moderately challenging with some single-track trails and a fair amount of uphill. Two of the miles are flat, urban street walking.
This is a Metrorail trip. We will take the A-Line east to Glendora Station, walk a flat mile to the trailhead, hike a loop of approximately 2.5 to 3 miles, take a refreshment/snack break in the shady park at the bottom of the trails and walk back to the train station.
There are bathrooms at the trailhead park and shaded picnic tables. Wear shoes with good traction, bring your hiking poles, hat and plenty of water.
More information, including Metrorail station departures, will follow as we get closer to the hike.
Please reach out to Jane Hufnagel with any questions.
