Super-Sized Dump Trucks
Art by Jane Brackman
Opening Reception Friday, January 9, 2026
3:00 to 4:00 p.m.
When Jane Brackman returned to her Altadena home last February, her art focused on the colorful, heavy-duty dump trucks deployed by the Army Corp of Engineers to remove more than 2.5 million tons of fire debris from nearly ten thousand destroyed structures. Dawn to dusk, seven days a week, February through June, truck drivers made about 1,500 trips a day. Thanks to the diligent efforts of the workers, the massive clean-up operation proceeded at twice the speed of prior wildfire recoveries.
The cartoonish, sized super-sized trucks that crawled throughout the burn zone, and the generous spirit of those who drove them inspired the 28 paintings that will be featured at the exhibit. As a remembrance, a 2026 calendar featuring the whimsical paintings will be available for $20, with all proceeds going to Pasadena Village.
