The Village People (LGBT) are car-pooling to the Getty Center to view two LGBT-centric exhibitions ('Queer Lens: A History of Photography,' and '$3 Bill: Evidence of Queer Lives') [getty.edu/exhibitions], followed by lunch in the cafeteria, and returning home, hopefully, before the rush hour(s).This outing is for LGBTQ-identified members only.

The Getty Center offers a world-class art collection, plus remarkable architecture, gardens, and fantastic views of the city. Carpool from Pasadena to the Getty Center (about 25 miles). Ride the accessible tram with sweeping views of the city up the hill and then explore the exhibitions, and enjoy a meal or snack at one of the dining options (Cafe entree prices range from $7 to $15; Garden Terrace Cafe range from $3 to $12; and The Restaurant range from $17 to $30)

About the Exhibition Queer Lens: A History of Photography
Since the mid-19th century, photography has served as a powerful tool for examining concepts of gender, sexuality, and self-expression. The immediacy and accessibility of the medium has played a transformative role in the gradual proliferation of homosocial, homoerotic, and homosexual imagery. Despite periods of severe homophobia, when many photographs depicting queer life were suppressed or destroyed, this exhibition brings together a variety of evidence to explore the medium’s profound role in shaping and affirming the vibrant tapestry of the LGBTQ+ community. Learn more about their use of the word "queer" here https://www.getty.edu/exhibitions/queer-lens/
