This is the second of five walks that cover the length of the Arroyo Seco, from Hahamonga Watershed Park to the confluence with the L.A. River and a bit beyond into Chinatown. Each walk segment is point-to-point, ranges from approximately 3 to 4.5 miles in length and includes riding Metrorail and/or Pasadena Transit.
This walk takes us from Brookside Park to South Pasadena. We’ll take Pasadena Transit Bus #51 at 7:30AM from the Fillmore Metrorail Station to the intersection of Rosemont and Seco Street in the Rose Bowl area. After walking through Brookside Park, we pick up the Arroyo Seco Trail and head towards South Pasadena. We eventually exit the arroyo near Mission Street and walk east to the Metrorail Station. There’s an option to stop at Heirloom Bakery or Jones Coffee for coffee and breakfast treats.
This walk is approximately 4 miles and mostly flat on sandy, rocky walking paths and pavement. There is a bit of uphill as we walk out of the arroyo in South Pasadena. There are restrooms at Brookside, the Casting Pond and Arroyo Park in South Pasadena.
Bring water! We’ll stop for a refreshment break in the Arroyo.
IMPORTANT
Bus fare to the Rose Bowl: Either bring your Senior Tap Card (with loaded fare) or bring senior bus fare of $0.35 (exact change needed).
Train fare back to Fillmore: You must have a loaded Tap Card!
Parking at the Fillmore Station is free. If you are taking the train from another Metrorail station to Fillmore, let me know and I’ll send station departure times. If driving, please plan to arrive at the station early enough to park and walk to the bus stop just south of Raymond and Fillmore for a 7:30 departure. Please be prompt, the next bus does not come until 8:13 and we will not be able to wait for you.
