Celebrate Earth Day early with a drive to see the poppies in bloom! Village members will carpool from Pasadena to the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve.
Each spring, the Antelope Valley comes alive with a variety of wildflowers creating a mosaic of color in the Mojave Desert Grassland habitat. Eight miles of trails through the gentle rolling hills, including a paved section for wheelchair access, make the park a wonderful place to hike and explore any season. Get away from the city and relax in the countryside, with the birds singing and hawks gliding silently overhead. Benches located along the trails make good places to sit quietly and watch for wildlife, such as meadowlarks, lizards, and gopher snakes.
Bring your own lunch. There are no nearby restaurants, but shaded picnic tables are available.
It is a one and half hour drive. Please mark if you are available to drive when you make your reservation. We will be in touch to arrange carpool.
