Pasadena Village's 1619 Project Discussion Group invites you to join Brian Biery for a presentation about iconic images that have historically have transformed our thinking about our values and how we behave in the world. Whether they be photographs of protesters being beaten by police after crossing the Edmund Pettus Bridge, or a photo of children fleeing a napalm attack during the Vietnam War, or the recent billowing smoke from the East Palestine train derailment, images have the power to impact our emotions and thoughts about issues of justice, war, the environment, etc. Please join this conversation about how photographs capture our hearts and minds in a way that then can lead to positive social and political change. Free.
Brian is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Human Development and Education at Pacific Oaks College. He has presented previously on several topics related to Pasadena's history at Pasadena Village’s discussion group and they are always engaging and informative.
