Creative Connections is an opportunity for older adults to share their artistic journeys. The Cultural Activities Committee invites an older adult to showcase their art, music, or other expressions and talk about their inspirations via Zoom with ample time for questions and opportunities for the audience to share their reactions and reflections. For the first Creative Connections of 2023, the Cultural Activities Committee and co-chair Karen Bagnard invite you to get to know Village member Jim Hendrick. In addition to sharing his creativity on Zoom, Jim will also be installing an exhibition of his work at the Village Office. 

Jim shares: 

I am a doodler. We always had a notepad by the phone. Along with the occasional message, I spent hours and countless sheets of paper drawing whatever came into my head. At work, in meetings or anytime I was bored, I reached for a pen and paper. Sometimes, I drew on cocktail napkins or advertising flyers. With retirement came the gift of free time. Free time gave me the headspace to allow for creative thoughts which led me to want to create something. After I gave myself permission to use art as a way to explore myself I discovered new parts of me. Every time I do anything creative I learn something new about myself and the world. I hope you enjoy my work.

The exhibit will have 16 paintings on canvas, 25 paintings on paper and a sketch book. All of the artwork will be on sale with 40% going to Pasadena Village.
