One Mo Gin

by Jim Hendrick

Slings

and arrows

Arrived again today.

This time

Commentary followed

Security

From want

Is never the solution.

Blood flowed

In the world

of fresh ideas.

The thinking class

pouring

A little bit

Of themselves

Into it.

Now I’m sad

Every day

For a time

When life gets slow.

Explain the joy

That comes from a

Holy well of pain

That never stops.

The look

The look, again

Need some help

You live around here?

Wypipoman

Still leads the parade.

Not only

Because we remember

Brother Bob singing

No woman

No cry

Sitting in the government yard

Through the night

Recalling friends

and lovers lost.

Ruminating our reflection

In the puddle.

Time has spun

A web

To catch

Falling detritus

Wonderment and

Damaged beauty

Enough to nourish

The thirsty soul who

Pushes on

Resisting the heal

Sysiphusian effort

Freedom is a constant struggle

Tears are for the old

Who have earned them.
